My Husband and I have debts of £14,700 between us and have been turned down for an IVA as he was made redundant in Sept & I am the sole wage earner. I do not earn enough to repay our debts & we are seriously considering going bankrupt. Do we have to submit a joint bankruptcy form or do we do it seperately? Do we have to pay twice the amount of legal fees too?

There are a whole load of issues as to when to proceed, if at all. You would, as stated by someone else, both need to pay the fee involved. Please outline the various issues so people can advise.

Hi

you may want to hang on until April when the new debt relief orders are supposed to be available

Hi Theb142

Welcome.

You can only do a single bankruptcy so each of you and yes you would have to pay the fee £495 x 2.

You may be able to get help with the court fee which is £150 if your on certain benefits or on a low income.
