HI

I KNOW AFTER 6 YEARS A BANKRUPCY IS REMOVED FROM YOUR CREDIT FILE AND THE INSOLVENCY WEBSITE BUT DOES IT GET REMOVED THE GAZETTE ARCIVES OR CAN CREDITORS STILL LOCATE IT EVEN WHEN IT HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM YOUR CREDIT FILE.

THANKS

The only times I've been asked about my Bankruptcy status is when opening my NatWest Current Account and nearly every Home Insurance policy.

Hi Jez

No i dont recall ever being asked about ever being bankrupt until recently, when i went to open a basic nat west account, it asked on the application form and obviously i had to say yes. Other than that nope nothing in the past as far as i am aware.

Best of luck all

Hi Jane,

As Skippy says, the br status is removed from the credit file but the gazette archives remain.

A creditor will use the credit reference agencies to determine you credit worthiness, they wouldn't normally go trawling through the bankruptcy archives to decide whether to provide credit because they can just ask you, and your are obliged by law to inform them of your br statis if asked.

I'm not sure if I have ever applied for credit where I have been asked if I was br, but then I'm not br yet, so I wouldn't necessarily have paid much attention to it.

It remains in the London or Edinburgh Gazette archives even after the 6 years. It is also archived somewhere (can't remember where) else in a central archive.

Also, don't forget that if you are applying for any form of credit and you are asked if you have ever been BR then you have to answer yes, no matter how long ago your BR was.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.
