Hi All,

Another crisp one here in North Wales!

I spoke to the courts yesterday to order my BR pack which is on its way - we were told that you just turn up at 10am and go in - and there I was hoping that there was a 12 month waiting list!

A while back I surfed the web and found an excel document that the government had commissioned called a "Family Expenditure Survey" - it broke down what are "reasonable outgoings" for a family with kids - however it was a 2001-2 document (updated in 2003) - ironically even this illustrates that a family's weekly expenditure then was £398 - God - if only we don't even spend this or anywhere close in 2008!

I wondered if anyone has a link to a newer document as its a great tool when you are calculating your outgoings and again a great piece of documentation for the OR.

Cheers

Tim

Mr Guest,

Well, the Insolvency Service is used by the OR's. In fact, they ARE the Insolvency Service. On their website, which OR examiners are duty bound to use is a Household Expenditure Survey. See this link:

http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/DocumentLibrary/Policy/Excel/Household%20Expenditur.xls

This shows you essential and non essential items of expenditure and what you can claim or put down on your BR form.

There are a lot of footnotes explaining each item.

This is straight from the horses mouth and if your I&E fits in with this you should be in a good position.

Hi Julian,

Exactley

Logically I guess all one needs to do is link it to inflation over the last 6 years to give you a fair estimate of what a 2008 survey would give?

I'm going to have a root around to see if I can find a more recent version - if so I'll post a link.

Cheers

Tim

Hi Tim,

Unfortunately, you are unlikely to find a current relevant document. The reason is that all of a sudden, the OR will find everyone that is going BR has exactly the same expenditure!
