Posted - 09 January 2009 : 14:10:48 Hi I am having a really bad time and need advice. My husband had to go bankrupt in April due to having problems with his business, he has now been given early release. There are still problems financially. We have to pay out £1500 in mortgage fees and I have a personal debt of approx £15000. I receive benefits as I unable to work, £410 for incapacity benefit, £430 for child tax credits and £125 child benefit. I am finding it almost impossible to pay anything towards the 6 companies that I owe money to, even on agreements that they have arranged. I see no other way than going bankrupt and trying to start a fresh. I am worried about the benefits though, what would happen to them, would I lose them? I would need them to help get back on my feet and am really concerned. My husband has had 4 spells of illness in a year and his income has suffered as he is self employed - so we need the benefits. I really dont know what to do. Can you please help

The good news is that any benefit payments you currently receive will be unaffected by going BR.
