For info, tried to open a Halifax Cardcash Account but was refused due to credit rating.

I thought I had read somewhere that Halifax accepted UBRs?

Hi everyone

I received a letter from the Halifax last week. They have seen our bankruptcy advertised in the London Gazette and have frozen our accounts. Tbe letter says "It is Halifax policy not to allow a person who is bankrupt to operate an account with us." Interesting.

Good luck with LLoyds Stu, heres hoping that they will say YES.

We can never go back to them as they were our biggest creditor 45k to be exact with loans, credit cards and a very large overdraft.

Oh well s**t happens and i am happy with my coop account.

Let us know the outcome :-)

LOL

Hi Stu

Now I opened a Lloyds TSB account after br with no problem. I asked 3 or 4 times if it would definitely be ok and was told it would - so far no problems.

Onwards and Upwards is the way im going :-0)

From "Moneyworries" to "Movin On" in 3 months is fantastic :-))

Hi

i spoke to halifax, and the lady on the phone said, on recieving notification of Bankruptcy all accounts including savings accounts and any insurance products are terminated, she said that she thinks this covers LloydsTSB as they are linked.

A bit harsh me thinks!

It seems that more and more the banks are changing their rules about the basic accounts and don't communicate it well to their branches.

It seems a real shame because it seems to me that if a switched on bank realised that people in Br are probably likely to have HUGE brand loyalty they could pick up some greta customers for life.

To make you smile I got turned down for a basic Barclays Bank account recently in the local branch. The lady got quite stroppy when I said I wanted to open 326 accounts for a number of clients!

Told me over the phone and in the branch that THEY DONT do credit checks for the basic account, me thinks they were telling porkies.
