Today we have got 30 quid to live on til end of month. We are going to make calls tomorrow about bankruptcy. Only this month have we started a mortgage holiday for a yr but are failing to make crdit card and loan repayments. We have spoke to lloyds but they cant do nothing, I tried to explain that my hubby is had to go onto monthly pay instead of weekly but they say they cant change payment dates to end of month. Now we owe interesst etc. Life is bloody awful, we are argueing endlessly, have no money and everyday is a struggle. Did everyone feel like this? Keep thinking about the ad in the local paper and everyone talking about us at the school gates....HELP

Hi Jackie

Welcome

We have a mortgage which is now in neg equity and really struggled for 18 months to pay that and the bills, we went BR in August last year, since we went BR we are able to afford the mortgage repayments as we dont have the other debts to pay.

Our Local HA said they could only help us once a repo had been issued and there was prrof of an eviction, even then they said it would more than likely be private and not council.

We are staying put now as we have started to sort things out.

Best of luck

Jo

Hi John,
There is no equity in the house, we only got mortgage 2yrs ago. If we were given a choice we would stay but Lloyds have told us they cant consolidate loans. We offered to pay back £600pm over 8-9yr, they are having none of it. We want to pay back but they are really making it impossible

IF you are eventually made homeless then the council are likely to help but they are unlikely to do anything until they see eviction noitices.

without the debt can you make the mortgage payments, is there any equity in the house and given a choice do you want to stay there?

Thanks Paul. Can I also ask are we able to be housed by the council should we be br? Or will this be seen as bringing it on ourselves?

First thing you should do is to change your bank account.

no doubt you have loans with the bank you are with and they will automatically deduct them and you will find it impossible to stop the direct debits.

Make a break and take control of your income. It will give you a breathing space to make some decisions
