Well, I have now had my first contact with the Examiner - they called me up unexpectedly at work yesterday - they just wanted a bit more information on my car - the guy seemed alright - friendly and polite - not the dragon I was expecting them to be!!!

I have my Interview next Thu. 22nd at 3pm - a little bit apprehensive but not as worried now that I have 'broken the ice' with them and Paul Johns has assured me I have nothing to worry about.

Let's see how it goes!

hi cakietin...

i asked my OR about this and no, not everybody has to go for the face to face.

i went BR in aug, telephone interview in sept, and then just had face to face in jan.

I think if your case is very simple and they can clearly see the point at which you became insolvent (not became bankrupt), then they don't need to see you.

I don't even think mine was that complicated but they wanted to see me to ask about a house we sold about 18 months ago and what i spent the profits on etc, and about a month where my partner got paid 2 months wages. But that was easily explained as he had been paid nothing 2 months prior to that!

he also asked (alot) why i continued to use credit cards etc even though our income had decreased through me being pregnant and partner going self employed.. and how i intended to pay the debts back.. i was just honest and said i had hoped to be in a position in the future where i could repay the debts.. i didn't run up the bills intentionally knowing i couldnt pay them..

try not to worry too much even if you do have a face to face (which you might not even have to) - it is not the actual OR you will see, will be an examiner from the OR office. My examiner was very nice, made me nice coffee and took things slowly and easily and made sure i was happy with my answers before putting them down... it was really nothing to worry about. As long as you have been honest about everything and been as accurate as possible they will do the rest but may just need to clarify things with you. hope this helps and good luck with the rest of your BR...

I have a question about the OR interviews if anyone can answer it please. After the phone interview will I definately have to have a face to face interview? I only ask as my hubby is disabled and really struggles to get around..even getting to the car.

Thanks.

Hi D&C

Firstly dont panic. I dare say they are a little busy right now but dont worry they will get back to you and arrange that interview.

It can be from a week to 5-6 weeks depending on the office and the workload.

I would not worry though.

LOL

Hi Guys!

How long does it usually take to get the OR Interview?

I went BR last Monday (05/01/09) and had a brief chat with the OR Office at the Court, and they said they would call me again in 5-7 days to arrange an Interview time, but I am still waiting!

I am dreading having it but at the same time really want to get it done!

When I was given a date for my interview, I then phoned the OR office to confirm it. My worry was that I might get a booking on that date because I am an entertainer, or I might have already got a booking on the date they had already confirmed.

When I explained this to the lady at the OR office she was quite stroppy and said that it was in my own interest to keep this appointment, and it came over to me that I could not change it.

Since then and the advice given I know this wrong, and you should be able to change any appointment given for your interview as long as you have a good excuse, such as work related or doctors or hospital appointment.

my phone interview the man checked the time was ok with me first...

my face to face interview i had trouble getting childcare.. OR was happy to change the day if needed, and even said i could have taken my daughter along..

luckily didn't need to in the end but they were very accomodating

When I spoke to the OR on the phone initially she asked if I had any appointments or special needs before she arranged the phone interview. The letter then stated that if the appointment didn't suit me then I could call them.

Hope that helps.

Hi Guys

The good news is you can inform your OR about the working hours or you have an appt at hospital or something and the OR will arrange it around you.

Dont panic if the meeting is not a suitable time just mention to the OR and they can rearrange it.

LOL and good luck guys
