Posted - 12 January 2009 : 18:59:30 Myself and my husband are getting divorced, we have a house and a secured debt , he is going backrupt on me so i will lose the house, I am looking at going backrupt as i have no way to pay the debt, but will i be offered a home with the local concil? do should i wait till go backrupt and let them evite me first to get a home?

You need to get the priorities right first.
Sort the new home out get settled then review the debt position

you will have to check with your local authority regarding housing if you are evicted from the property following bankruptcy.
Whatever you do, do not under any circumstances leave the property until evicted otherwise you will be deemed by the council to have voluntarily given up your home and therefore they will not have a duty to house you.
