I have a lloyds tsb credit card (airmiles duo) the credit limit is £5700 and yes so is my balance! I was checking my credit report and the balance listed was £0! Which was last updated at the end of november. We got burgled in october and got replacement cards but never activated them as it was maxed out. I'm wondering if that has affected the balance not showing on my credit file.

Could i get away with not paying this card, which may then stop me going BR?

Baxi

I doubt very much if you would get away with NOT paying this as they will get hold of you eventually. If your statement says it then you must have it, just because the credit file shows different does not mean the debt has vanished.

If you try and not pay then thsts up to you, but i do think in a way you may be playing with fire. It could be that they started another account and the old info is just that old.

In an ideal world it would be lovelly for them to forget but these credit card companies are like elephants and they never forget, LLoydstsb did very similar to my credit file, on ours it now shows 2 debts for the same amount each taken at different times, but one was the orgininal loan the other was added when they updated the file to show we were on a payment plan.

Hi,

The balance is the full amount (£5700) as shown on my internet banking website and the paper bills i receive every month.

Anyone with a legal/technical knowledge think i could get away with refusing to pay?

Hey Baxi

That is so weird. I would do as CMJ has said and give them a quick call just to double check.
