I went bankrupt today and it was absolutely awful, the clerk was very, very nice but the Deputy District Judge was horrible, she really put me through the ringer and was not going to sign the Order initially, completely left me in tears. The clerk was very apologetic and said that she had never dealt with that judge before and it was not usual practice.

Nevermind though deed is now done. I have one question I have opened a coop cashminder account but am currently using Natwest current account, no overdraft and I owe Natwest no money at all. The clerk and OR advised me to phone them to see if they will allow be to keep it open, should I do this or just wait and see as I can use the coop account in the meantime?

Also the coop card says Visa and Electron, so does that mean it's a Visa card much easier to use than Electron?

I will keep my fingers crossed you will be able to keep it. You may not be allowed a debit card and cheque book if you have one now, however if you have any luck please post and let us know.

I have switched my wages over to the coop account but was kind of hoping I would be able to switch it back to natwest as it is a current account and so be better for rebuilding my credit rating.

Hey Crockett

Im very sorry that you got a hard time by the judge, but that should be the last time that your debts cause you so many tears. I also had a woman and apparently they are quite harsh. However that part is over so concentrate on your next step.

Are you planning on using your coop cashminder full time once the br is all sorted out or was you hoping to continue with the Natwest ?

You will be very suprised with the Visa Electron card - its more or less like a visa debit, and more and more people are able to use them in more stores. Apparently Asda petrol stations dont accept them all the time?? I have never had mine refused anywhere and i have been using it since october 2008.
