I wounder if u could help me, my parents have got themself into debt so much that i have had to part with 3000 pound in order to keep them in therr council house, as the bankruptcy order will have to go through due to other debts "council tax" and others, the council have asked for details from me of my bank account in order to set up a direct debt to have their rent paid untill her housing benefit goes through, could they take more money from me other than the amount i agree to give by direct debt.

Hi Akm and welcome to the forum.

It is common opractice for councils to reschedule council tax arrears moving forward. Therefore, as long as you live in the jurisdiction of that council, it is unlikely that the arrears will be written off.

Hi

if you are concerned that the Council may debit more than you have agreed (under a direct debit that is possible) ask the council to accept a standing order arrangement.
The sum debited on a standing order, and the date on which it is debited, cannot be revised by anyone other than you.

Hi AKM & Welcome

When you say take more money do you mean the Bankruptcy people or the council?
