hi megan just to let you know we were allowed 585 for 2 adults and 3 kids, the or also told us that some of pue expenditure was too low and that we need to increase in certain areas !!!!

we thought ours was pushing our luck, it all depends on your OR im affraid

moving forward to new beginnings

Hi Megan,

Regarding the nappies. Do you not get nappies for your son on the NHS? My little girl is 10 and still in nappies and we are allowed them on the NHS. Might be worth checking.

Grace 347 - we're a family of 6, including my husband and 3 teenage boys. Our allowance is £600 per month, and actually it is doable :) Considering pre-BR we were surviving on £50 a week! For £150 we can eat like royalty! :)

My opinion, going off my experience, is that the OR will definitely try for an IPA from you. I know they have their guidelines and some are stricter than most and I hope you get a "lenient" one and you may avoid one but its all the luck of the draw!

Our food was £545 for 2 adults and 3 teenagers and the OR said it was too high, we were not allowed a holiday/break, no contingency, birthdays, xmas, he cut the clothing from £100 to £80,

I don't think they would allow meals at work, that would have to come out of the housekeeping, (thats what we were told)

Hi,

I'm no expert at all, only posted on here asking for advice myself a few times, however I just wanted to say that this sounds a bit tight! How on earth are you supposed to feed 2 adults and 3 teenagers on 545 never mind less than!?

Thank you every1, to be honest tho i didnt think that 628 for housekeeping wasnt too much, i know in not an expert, but i have worked it out that £628 pm = £5 per day for each of us, this in cludes meals, cleaning, and personal essensials (eg shampoo etc...). And if my husband meals at work have to be included in the housekeeping, it would need to be increrased. Im confused to high heaven!!!

more help pleaseeee XX

Unforunately ORs are not consistent, a good rule of thumb is usually to claim for as much as you reasonably can and let the OR cut you down. I was actually told this by an OR.

Best Regards

thank you John,

I would like to speak to you to discuss this further if that is possible, if i contact the above number, can i ask to speak to you directly?

Hi

you most certainly can claim for out of school activities. That said only about £10.

Haircuts per month for the 4 of you should be around £30. And although you pay your car tax from the DLA, you are entitled to the car, the car requires road tax, the dla is your sons and cannot be included as income. You should therefore claim the tax cost seperately and therefore claim it as an allowance.

These 2 things have increased your expenditure by approx £45. Having entered these into your list and noting the I&E (neither of your benefits are income) totals listed, that would give you a monthly disposable income of -£92.
This is £192 per month below the sum required for the minimum IPA.

So, can the OR "shave off" £192 per month from your listed expenditure to effect an IPA proposal?

This is just my opinion but, I think the housekeeping figure of £628 may be considered approx £80 too high (£112 to go).

Personal hygeine essentials, other than your sons, may not be allowed in addition to housekeeping.
So for the purpose of arguement let's halve it.
So we are down another £37 (£75 to go).

Your council tax and tv licence arrears will end so the licence will reduce to £12 - reducing by £9 (£66 to go).

I don't know what proportion of your council tax is towards the arrears but looking at the rest I would say also that your electricity is likely to be more than your estimate and the domestic break could be increased by £30..

At this stage then I would say the the proposal for a low end IPA is quite possible BUT, if you stand firm if and when it comes, and based only on these figures, I believe it could be avoided.

Can sum1 help me on this please, i just need to know weather it looks ok, and weather you think an ipa/ipo will be issued against me.

Anything would be appreciated

hi,

Electricity i havent started paying for that yet, as we have just moved into our new house, dry cleaning i have put down at £10pm.
Car Tax, my sons DLA pays for that.
How much can i put for haircuts?
School uniform would that be included in clothes shopping??
After school activity i was told that i cant add that, so i dont know.
Special costs for my son, it varies from month to month, somethimes he doesnt cost me anything, and over months it costs me a fortune.
We dont have contents insurance yet.
Dental and optitians we are excempt so that doesnt cost us anything.

Looking at thisdo you think we will have an ipa/ipo issued against us?

thank you
