Posted - 30 January 2009 : 21:22:35 Hello
I have recently gone bankrupt, but my fiance isnt bankrupt and isnt in an IVA or DMP.(although she does have some small credit card balances)
I live with her and my parents - and am worried that in future they may find it difficult to get credit/mortgages etc.
I remember at some point when i was sorting out my bankruptcy that someone told me my fiance could write a letter of dis-association.
Could you tell me exactly what this is and if it is something i should recommend my fiance and parents to do - as i dont want to cause any further disappointment to them.
Thanks for your advice

Posted - 30 January 2009 : 21:50:35 I live with my partner and had some debts at my mum's address and neither of them have had any problems. Since I went BR my OH has managed to get a mortgage in his sole name and a credit card. My mum has also had a loan.
If you have no joint finances with your fiancee or parents then they shouldn't be linked. It might be worth you all checking your credit files with Equifax, Experian and Callcredit, and if there are any links your fiancee and parents can then file a notice of disassociation.
