New to this sight, just wanted to say hi and ask a question. I have recently opted back into my pension which comes automatically out of my salary and is contributed to by my employer )local government), will i have to stop these payments if i go bankrupt and pay more into an IPA if i have one?
Thanks

Posted - 07 February 2009 : 11:45:20 My pension is deducted at source and I make the maximum contributions that the company will match and nothing was said by the OR.
Mine isn't a government pension, but I don't see why it should make any difference.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Hope that helps

Posted - 07 February 2009 : 08:03:29 Hi
as far as I am aware the OR can insist the voluntary part of the contribution is stopped paricularly when doing so would mean the difference between an IPA being applied or not.
That said, and as is often the case, each office seems to do it's own thing and if an IPA could still not be applied if the employees contribution ceased there would be little point.
If one of the expert's knows different then I stand to be corrected.

Posted - 07 February 2009 : 00:24:47 Hi Laura
in all probability you would be required to cease contributions. Until discharge if you do not enter into an IPA or for a period of 36 months if you do.
