Posted - 09 February 2009 : 11:07:46 I am thinking of declaring bankruptcy i have a loan debt of approx £30 thousand this was gaurentored by my then wife,we are now divorced will my ex wife have to meet any payments ?

Posted - 09 February 2009 : 11:15:31 If your ex-wife was guarantor for the loan you you file for bankruptcy the loan company will expect your ex wife to meet the contractural payments under the loan

Not 100% sure if this would be classed as the same as a joint loan. If so, then she will liable for the whole of the debt.
I'm sure one of the professional experts will be along with a definitive answer soon.
