Posted - 18 February 2009 : 12:49:50 your be fine
everything that Elleb stated was about as truthful as it gets! i was scared i got upset etc but seriously the judge is completley understanding. I was in the judges office for literally about 3-4 minutes! he asked me how i got into my situation i explained and he stamped my paperwork, and i then went downstairs to talk to my O.R who then asked me about my assests if any (there wasnt) and about my car, which i was allowed to keep!
Your be fine, its such a relief, it was for me when i walked out of the court finally debt free!

Posted - 17 February 2009 : 21:39:46 For a start, do not be scared! Easier said than done I know, but everything will be fine.
We had our bankruptcy hearing last Thursday. We were shown into a room where a very nice clerk went though our paperwork with us. As soon as that was done we took a seat in reception for just a couple of minutes before the clerk came back and took us through to the court. The clerk talked us through every step and was very kind and helpful. We were called to see the judge immediately, and were shown into an office with the judge sitting behind her desk. She asked if we were aware of the implications of bankruptcy and if we had taken advice and when we said yes to both she told us she would grant the bankruptcy. She stamped the paperwork and handed it to the clerk who took us back to the offices where she left us for five minutes while she printed out our bankruptcy document.
That was it! We were in and out in three quarters of an hour and everyone was extremely nice. It was actually a bit of an anti climax after all the worrying we had done!
We had a phone call from the OR later in the day and we get our appointment through the post in the next day or two. All OR seem to do things differently though, but that is our experience.
Don't worry too much, it will all be fine
