hi all had a car accident two years and now about to receive a payout for personal injury will my OR take this money or will i be able to keep it my OR does know i will receive some money and has so far said for me to let them know when i have it any advice will be great

maybe daft question but what can i spend the money on if i upgraded my car would they then take it from or do i just sit on the money till i am discharged from bankruptcy

Hopefully yes, it will be a happy ending for you, but i would advise them, and if this is the case (which it usually is) you can actually enjoy the payment rather than have any niggling doubts as to whether they will come chasing

hi i was declared br last month and i just called my examiner who pretty much said what nowayout has posted it is purely for the personal injury and no loss of earnings or anything else so this could be a happy day for once

I was in a similar position to you and the OR said that they could take compensation that related to loss of earnings but not money that has been paid for personal injury.

As far as I know nothing has changed since then.

when did you file for bankruptcy? It all depends on when you receive the monies - if while bankrupt you will have to speak to the OR and ask their advice.
