Posted - 25 February 2009 : 21:46:45 Hi I'm about to go BR from being self employed, I have just been offered a job which is 'civil service' and on the application forms are the dreaded questions of insolvency. I entered into an IVA 10 months ago and it is obviously failed. Will this affect my chances of employment if I say 'yes' (which I am inclined to do so)?

Posted - 26 February 2009 : 06:52:31 I used to work in the civil service (prison service). the recruitment forms asked the question about BR but i don't know if iof really makes a difference as to whether you get the job or not.
I know that once you were employed, you had to inform the Governor of the prison if you went bankrupt but this didn't effect employment. It was just kept on your personal record.
They also used to ask if you were a Freemason or not and still employed you even if you were!

as the forms ask the question one would assume that it might but this is a question for the employer as their policy in the circumstances would be peculiar to them rather than an Insolvency related issue.
