Posted - 27 February 2009 : 18:48:25 Hi I am hoping one of the experts can help me. My bankruptcy hearing is on Wednesday 4 March. I am worried about the 'Causes of Bankruptcy' part of the SOA form (Section 11). I was wondering if I typed out what I have written so far, if someone could please advise if it seems ok. I have been caring for sick/disabled parents for many years, am a single parent, and have been surviving on benefits. I have run up a large amount of debt which I now realise I will never be able to pay back. Also, I really don't know what to put in the question 11.1 When did you first have difficulty paying your debts? My first problems were many years ago, but my ex-husband and daughter have been helping to pay the debts. My ex-husband is now very ill with cancer and cannot help anymore - so do I say difficulty from now, or from the original 'difficulty' years ago? I hope someone can help - I'm making myself ill worrying about this! Many thanks, Sharon |

Posted - 28 February 2009 : 00:16:03 Hi Melanie Thank you for that. I shall be so glad when this is all over! I have learnt so much from this website, which has helped no end with filling in the forms. It's comforting to know that I'm not alone too!

Posted - 27 February 2009 : 20:14:23 Hello there and welcome to the forum, just give a brief explanation, i would provide a brief explanation just as you have done here, there is no need to expand any further, and indeed state that you have had difficulties for a number of years and that your husband has assisted you but now due to his health, provide reason, is now unable...jus as you have in the post here...
Try not to worry too much, the forms are to give the official receiver a brief explanation as to your finaicial position, not your life story, the bankruptcy may seem a daunting prospect, but you have enough on your plate with your husband without worrying about your debts. If you require any further help with any other worries or concerns feel free to post, I, and the others on here will provide you with all the support you need
