Posted - 02 March 2009 : 10:37:35 Hi All
Just enquiring if you are paying an IPA and after you are discharged you receive a pay rise or work bonus, do you need to inform the OR?
Or is the IPA fixed once you are discharged.
Thanks

Posted - 03 March 2009 : 09:46:48 Skippy is correct in what i said with a pay rise in line with inflation as usually this rise will be eaten up in a simiilar rise with council tax, utilities etc so even on informing Moon Beaver of the payrise, you can also inform of rises in other areas which will 'cancel out' the actual pay rise and therefore no increase in IPO

Posted - 03 March 2009 : 09:14:40 Thanks for the reply's
I take it the same is said for work related bonuses, for instance if I received a christmas bonus etc, this would need to be notified.
But I understand if I received something like a lottery win ( I should be so lucky ) that this can be kept.
Thanks again |

Posted - 02 March 2009 : 18:59:14 I seem to recall a post (I think from Melanie) stating that you don't have to tell the OR of a pay rise in line with inflation.

Posted - 02 March 2009 : 17:22:12 yes, unfortunately it may not be advantageous to get a pay rise when you are in an ipa as you are meant to inform the OR of the pay rise within 21 days of it showing up in your pay.
Please make sure you have used all your entitlements as to essential items of expenditure (see my 'Useful Links' post).
Obviously it would be awkward to ask your employer not to give you a pay rise.
The best thing is to ask for your essential items to be reviewed at the same time as announcing the pay rise. If that's possible. Your pay rise should take into account the cost of living and unless you are friends with Sir Fred Goodwin or the government it probably isn't going to be anything other than a pay rise for cost of living! |

Posted - 02 March 2009 : 14:45:26 Hi
no the IPA is never fixed but to be fair this could just as easily work in your favour if your financial position were to get worse.
The IPA payment due will always, for the full 3 year period, be subject to review each time your situation changes, for better or worse.
