I stopped paying my Halifax mortgage back in Nov when my rate shot up and I moved out at the beginning of Feb when I officially went bankrupt.
As Halifax hadn't sent me any repossession letters, I sent them a voluntary surrender letter recorded delivery 3 weeks ago.
I popped back to my (obviously empty) flat to collect my post today and Halifax have called round 4 times since my letter which stated that I have moved out and gave forwarding details of my official receiver...!! I have 8 letters and 4 calling cards from them.
I absolutely refuse to have a conversation with them at this point but am worried they will persist and not just take the property back..
Can anyone tell me if this is normal and if I need to take further action can I do it in writing or through my OR?

Hi Robin, it doesn't suprise me that the Halifax are persisting and harrasing you in this way. I won't go into all the details but after I went BR I was having up to 25 calls a day even though I had told them about my BR and a couple of telephone operators had actually noted it on their screens but the calls and the letters continued. I have now complained to the financial ombudsman and have written the Halifax a couple of very inpolite letters. I did however, have a bit of a giggle to myself as on Friday I received a load of credit card cheques telling me that I could spend these on whatever I liked. I wonder what would have happened if I took them up on their offer! Needless to say I sent them back with a short and sweet letter. I think it is just a case of them not getting their act together. It is not suprising they are in so much trouble.
Just relax and forget all about them, to me they are no more than glorified loan sharks.

Hi
there is nothing for you to worry about. Clearly the information is yet to filter through the sytem at the Halifax. This is very coomon with many lenders.
You have no interest legal or otherwise in the property any longer and there is no further action that the Halifax can take.
Try and forget all about it, you've done all you need to do having given up the property.
That said, just a polite reminder that you should inform the local authority that you no longer occupy the flat.
