I have £32,000 unsecured debt (credit cards and loans). I am now unemployed and receive £60.50 a week in JSA. I cannot pay the amounts of about £700 a month so feel bankruptcy is the best option for me. I live with my father in a Housing Association house and not a tenant of the property.

Thanks.

Hi there and welcome to the forum - from the informtion you have provided it may well be that bankruptcy is your best option as you have in effect no income to 'service' your debts and are thus insolvent. As you are in receipt of JSA you will have a reduction in the fee for filing for bankruptcy (£345 as opposed to £495) Give your local county court a ring and ask to speak to the bankruptcy clerk, and request a pack for filing for bankruptcy be sent to you (all thy will want from you is your name and address) whilst on the phone enuquire as to the next available appointment - it may be next week or up to 4 weeks time depending on how busy that particular court is, and my advise would be to book the appointment whilst on the phone. If you need any advice re completing the forms please come back to the forum and post any questions.
