i live with parents and give them 500 per month as this covers all gas, elec, rent, council tax, will this be acceptable by the O.R.? i live in an apartment at the top of my parents house

It does depend on how the OR loks at it i'm afraid - the going rate for a 'board' contribution to parents is around £200 - it is sometimes viewed that as the utilities, council tax etc are in your parents name you are not liable for them but whilst living at home you can make a contribution via 'board'. You will also get an allowance for food etc ( around £195 is acceptable) so its not all bad news as i guess the £500 you currently pay includes food.

I don't see why not. High for a rental for a single person but not if it includes all utilities.
