Posted - 23 March 2009 : 14:45:37 [b]I am currently pregnant, and going bankrupt, do i have to tell my official reciever im pregnant? (because no one knows. I am due a healthy pregnancy grant soon, which is £190, if i am bankrupt when my grant comes in will my official reciever take this to pay off my creditors? and how am i supposed to save for the baby when they take all of your disposable income? I am getting very stressed about this and i would be so gratefull if someone could give me some advise xxxxxxxx |

Posted - 24 March 2009 : 12:39:43 thwy definately wont take the pram hon, unless you owned some really valuable antiques/paintings/massive tvs etc, they wont have an interest in any of your items, so dont worry.
Also, I would be inclined to tell them because obviously your housekeeping will be higher with the extra food/higher quality food/any vitamin supplements/milk you'll need whilst pregnant. |

If you have more than £100 a month, then they will take between 50 and 70% of that.

As i am worried this baby will come and it will have nothing, i have already have a pram for baby it was quite expensive and my boy friend bought it, and i am worried that they might take it and replace it with a cheap thing, i am so worried about this whole thing and am terrified xxxxxx |

Posted - 23 March 2009 : 15:09:53 It is completely up to you whether you inform the OR that you are pregnant - I would though to ensure you get the full reange of 'allowable expenditure' when looking at your budget taking into account the baby etc. The OR will not touch your maternity grant - this is provided for you to purchase essentialitems for your baby not to pay towards your debts, so you have no worries on that score
