Council tax question. Now that i am bankrupt, when can i stop paying council tax on my property. I don't live there now as i relocated to rental accomadation and i know you can become exempt when the property is in the hands of the trustee but is that as soon as you are made bankrupt or after the OR has investigated my statement of affairs and informed me what is happening to my property? I'm trying to cut costs where possible but i definately don't want to miss payments on the council tax until i'm sure i have no responsibility for them. Also for council tax purposes i know you can become exempt if the house is repossessed, but is handing the keys back the same as repossession as far as coucil tax is concerned? Just wanted to say this forum is great. Just when you think you've got it covered something else comes along to baffle you and i've taken great comfort that so many people, despite their own problems take time to help others.
