After worring about it for weeks Iv finally made the decision I'm going to have to go bankrupt.I'm 2 years into an Iva and my husbands lost his job, I will be missing my second payment tomorrow. I have told my Iva company several weeks ago about change in circumstances and they told me to phone back in a few weeks which I'm going to do tommorrow, part of me feels really scared but part of me feels relieved that I'v made a decision.I haven't got a clue what I have to do, all I know is that it said in my last annual statement that Iva company has kept enough money in their account to file for my bankruptcy if my Iva fails. What do I do about a bank account and when I try and open one do I tell them that I'm going bankrupt and what if no one will let me open one, sorry to go on but I am panicing a bit.

Hi Hallway, I'm in a very similar situation and I'm going to court on Thursday. I was in an IVA for 3 years and hubby lost his job. To be honest I am now feeling relieved that all of this may now soon be over by the end of the year! Nearly 5 years of worry! Good luck!

With you all the way. I made the decision a few weeks ago to go Br as the only option. Also full of shame, despair and sleepless nights But definatley better once I had made the decision to face the music. Filled the forms etc and now ready to start the process but now full of debts and worries.

I'm sorry it's come to this for you Hallway, but good luck with your BR.

Your best bet for a bank account is the Co-op as John suggests, followed by Barclays. Nationwide are unfortunately no longer BR friendly.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Thanks John,I remember feeling this scared when I was going for Iva.Its just not knowing what to expect that frightens me most, in hind sight I'm sorry I didn't go for bankruptcy in the first place, think it was the feeling of shame that stopped me, but I'v actually mentioned that I was thinking of it to a few people and no one seems shocked.

Hi

open an account two to three weeks prior to the bankruptcy hearing. Advise them that you intend to declare bankruptcy.Co-op Cashminder seems to be the most bankrupt friendly. Nationwide and Barclays also might accomodate. Co-op is almost guaranteed to allow you an account.
