Similar experience. Went BR this week and had an intial call with OR office. Who was lovley sympathetic and helpful. I am waiting for the full meeting /tc interview now. I declared Co Op cashminder on the form and told her in the TC. She wanted to know account number etc but then said - as it was a basic account ,with no credit or O/D then they were not interested and would not freeze. She advised me to ring them and send copy of BR order ie be up front with them but she did not think they , Co Op would close it down

Hi

I originally opened my coop account when i went into my second IVA, it was opened and then I phoned to inform them I was going into an IVA and they were one of my creditors, they froze the account.

Prior to me going bankrupt I rung the coop again and they said it is ok now for me to use the account as the debt is no longer there, I did put the account on my SoA, and informed the OR Examiner in which she said there is still a risk of right of offset so would leave an allowance for Thinkbanking for £12.50 a month just incase, but so far, 3 months in and they havent took my money, but have been really careful with it, for example I did an online shop with Asda the other day, and they tried to charge my cards 11 times for different times, so coop froze my account, rejected the payment and reissued my card, you dont get that with other banks good security, I still have to pay Asda but they can wait for the moment for all the trouble they have caused.

Best of luck

Hi all
I have a co-op Cash minder account, It was opened prior to Bankrupcy, I informed them what was going to happen and they said No problem.
The OR had no problem with it either.
I am nearly 3 months in to BR and have just recieved a new Debit Card on my joint account from one of my Creditors,I rang there BR team and they said I could use the card, but must not use the cheque book,
I quoted what Melaine had said on a previous post, about the banks being able to claw money back, as they are a creditor, they said that would not happen.
The trouble is can you trust the Banks?????

All the best

Hi

When I went bankrupt the OR said had no interest in my co op cashminder account because it was used for everyday expenditure. So this account was not frozen. In saying this I understand some OR offices are a bit more awkward than others and have heard of them freezing co op cashminder accounts for a while.

Hi sgr. I opened my Cashminder account a month before BR and they said they would have to freeze it temporarily but I think they must have changed their policy now. I rang a couple of days before court and they said they wouldn't freeze it unless specifically asked to do so by the OR. I DID declare the account on my SOA, my court date was a week ago and so far it has remained open with no problems at all.

stu, thanks for that but..........did the coop freeze the account before you told them you were br,and did you declare your co op account at the very start or did those who have to be obeyed find it?the reason i ask is they told me they never freeze accounts?

what will be,will be,cant be no worse than it was!!

Hi

From personal experience I had a cashminder account prior to BR, and yes they froze it when I entered an IVA but when I went BR I informed the coop, told them they were a creditor and they unfroze it and said it was fine to use.
I also opened a think account just in case
So you should be ok

Best of Luck
