Guys, if I could pick your brains again!
Ok, I have submitted my forms on insolvency.gov.uk website. I am going to call my local county court today to organise an appointment to file for br, I have been open and honest with everyone involved... yet I still have a problem.
My current electricity supplier has been very lax in reading my meter, and ok hands up I hadnt given it much thought either. I finally checked it just before Christmas and gave them an up to date reading.
They immediately hit me with a £1000 (give or take) arrears which they wanted paying straight away.
There was some toing and froing whilst I explained that I couldnt afford it, I offered a payment plan, which they refused, and finally on Monday I received a letter to say that they were applying to court for an order to force entry to my house and cut me off.
Now they are a named creditor on my br app, do I write to them and tell them of this fact? Will this make them speed up their cut off procedures? Or should I just sit and wait and trust the legal system to take so long to get around to awarding them the rights that my BR should be in place?
Im annoyed because I ALWAYS pay my utilities on time, and I dont think this is totally my fault.
I have tried to switch provider to prevent my debt with them getting any larger, but they refuse to hand over supply until this is settled.
Any advice would be appreciated :) |

Hi All
I had a simmilar problem with my Supplier,
theatening to cut me off, It was not until I went BR that they got off my back,
I spoke to there BR department, At first they said I would have to have a pre-payment meter,
I asked if there was any way I could avoid this, and suggested a Deposit, which they agreed too.
Once you are BR things will get better because you will be dealing with a department, which understands the process.
Don't forget to ring through a meter reading night before or the morning of the BR so that it will be a fresh start.and pre BR debt will be gone.

Personally I would ring them and tell them your BR date...best to try and co-operate with them. At least they will know your BR plans and it might get them off your back a little bit.... |
