Posted - 09 April 2009 : 10:38:39 ...and it was fine! It lasted 40 mins.
Just so you know, I'm a single parent of 2...renting my home, working part time.
I have been BR since 19th March and I've had to wait until now for my interview....I was quite nervous about it.....but didn't need to be, to be honest.
But I suppose my case is relatively straight forward. I don't own property or anything.
I am able to keep my car (and any car up to the value of £2000) because I need it for work and the school run...so it is exempt Although, it is only worth £300....but at least it's mine to keep.
I wasn't aware that they would need to inform Sky and BT of my BR though...it will be up to them if they wish to cancel my contracts...fingers crossed!
The only thing they disputed regarding my expenditure was Sky. Everything else was fine. They even allowed me to save £70 per month towards a family holiday in the UK Oh and they were unsure about the £30 per month for kids clubs/activities...I may need to sacrifice something else such as Sky.
I need to send copies of my debt paperwork and all my cards to him..along with my last 3 paylips....
Re my rented home....He needs to read my tenancy agreement, then he will decide whether they need to be informed or not. It depends on the tenancy type.
No need to contact my employer.
On the whole, I felt comfortable. He even said to tell him if I need a break and he would call me back in 5 mins! He was really quite friendly, but straight to the point, no small talk. He referred to my SOA a lot, so make sure you have your copy to hand.
I was expecting to be asked outright...'So why have you got into debt?' But I wasn't. He could see for himself the reasons why. He was also very understanding if I had trouble remembering things that were years ago.
They did not take my Child Benefit into account, but they did use tax credits and housing benefit.
He said it's unlikely that I will get and IPA, but he can't say until he's done his report.
If you want to ask me anything...please feel free. It was the Birmingham office, if that helps anyone.
Phew! I feel so relieved!!! |

Posted - 27 March 2012 : 19:28:32 Nice to see you, glad you ate doing ok. What you need to do is check your credit rating with all three agencies and make sure there are no defaults registered after the date of br. If there are then you need to.write to.those creditors who.have done so and tell them to rmove them.
Your BR will stay on your record for six years and in the meantime make sure your bank account is up to date. You could try getting a credit card such as Vanquis and make sure it is paid off in full each month.
As to a mortgage, there is a broker on the IVA site who.has helped several posters. His name is Ryan.
Follow through Make your dreams come true Don't give up the fight You will be alright 'Cause there's no one like you in the universe

Posted - 27 March 2012 : 19:04:38 Hi all! Not sure if anyone remembers me?! My BR was 3 years ago now! Life is so much easier without any debt. I am now starting to wonder how I go about repairing my credit rating and making it possible to borrow again in the future. I'm talking about a mortgage really, not interested in bad debt! Any advice will be appreciated, going to have a nosy around the site now

Posted - 09 April 2009 : 21:22:50 Well done you!! LastResort. I am with Birmingham office too so hopefully mine will go well. My telephone call is booked for 28th. I spoke to the OR today and he sounded really nice and I feel much less nervous now about the interview. My court date was bit daunting though (details on earlier post). Good luck to you and happy Easter! |
