Posted - 09 April 2009 : 20:33:25 I was informed by my local council today that although I included the £350 arrears for the 2008/09 year in my bankruptcy, I still owe them another £260.00 from November 2008 (have no idea where that came from). I told them that it was my understanding that as I went bankrupt in March (this year) then any debt up to that date would be included in my bankruptcy. They said that they had not sent me a bill for that amount yet (apparently it was sent out yesterday after they got a letter from my OR and they are going to write off the £350) so it was NOT a debt so I will still have to pay it - eh! I am totally confused and they are insistent that it cannot be included in the bankruptcy (although they agree that the amount is from before my bankruptcy). Anyone come across this before??

Shouldn't matter when the bill is sent out - I would have thought it was when the debt was incurred is the important thing.
