I am Spanish, but have being living in the UK for 13 years. I am getting divorce, lost my house in the process, lost my job and have thousands of pounds debts. I am not able to repay my debts as I have no money. I am thinking to come back to my country as I have nothing left here for me. I have the permanent residency. Any help would be greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much

i am unable to advise if bankruptcy is the right solution - and you would need to review how this would effect your ex wife regarding the house.

i can confirm that while you are still living in the UK you are eligible to petition for bankruptcy here which would clear all of your debts.

you would however need to advise the insolvence servcie of any property or assets both here or abroad.

incidentally we have just assisted someone origionally from Spain to clear their debts here in the UK
