Hi Skippy

I have just registered to get my credit files from Experian, Equifax and Callcredit.

The first two were fine, I can do a free 30 day trial. Callcredit on the other hand offered three months free. I input my card details as usual, it then said £12.00 has been taken out of your account!!! They don't appear to have a telephone number, you have to write to them. Can you help?

Another problem I have is that none of my creditors know my current address, as you probably know it was withheld by the court for various reasons. How do I contact them and get them to amend their records without disclosing this information?

One other thing, some of the default dates on these are 2007. I didn't go bankrupt until 2008, do I notify them of this or do I just leave it. I know the other ones that state 2009 I will have to get them to change it to my bankruptcy date i.e. 20th August 2008.

Any help would be appreciated.

Maizie

The BR was updated on my files automatically, it was the individual accounts I had to contact. I didn't apply for the certificate of discharge as I didn't fancy paying £60 or so for it! When I wrote to my creditors I sent a copy of the proof of discharge from the insolvency register.

Hi Skippy

On Equifax is states that:

I am discharged from Bankruptcy, how do I update my file?

We are unable to amend Bankruptcy information unless we receive an original Certificate of Discharge, which can be obtained from the court concerned. Upon receipt of the certificate, our records will be amended accordingly. After you have been discharged from your bankruptcy you can send proof of your discharge to all the lenders included on your Statement of Affairs. The lenders whose debts were included in your bankruptcy should then mark the entry on your credit reference file to show that you no longer owe money on that account.

Does this mean I have to pay to get the certificate?

I've no idea what the difference is to be honest!

Defaults stay on your file for 6 years x

Thanks Skippy. Whats the difference between partially satisfied or satisfied?

How long do defaults stay on there?

Can anybody help with the address problem?

Ooops! I did the same thing with one of the others and paid for the full credit report rather than the freebie. I had to try and get through to Callcredit once, and even though I found a phone number I couldn't get through to a human as a recorded message told me to write to them.

I don't know how you would get around the address problem, hopefully one of the experts might be able to help with that.

You don't need to get the defaults dated 2007 corrected as they will drop off your CRF before your BR. I still wrote to the creditors though and asked them to amend the file as satisfied or partially satisfied rather than showing a default.

Sorry that's not a lot of help, hopefully one of the others will be along soon x
