Posted - 15 April 2009 : 09:13:40 Had my OR interview today! Wasn't aware just how nervous I was till the time approached. The man I spoke to (Hull office) was very nice & approachable. He asked me pretty much all the questions on the SOA. The credit card section took the longest as I had half a dozen of them. I was literally blushing when he pointed out how often I go to the supermarket! I am just incapable of going in for a loaf of bread and a pint of milk - I always come out with a trolleyful! (But that stops now, people!) I was blushing even more when he asked if there were some product at the supermarket I was buying more than others and I realised he was asking if I had a drink problem! No - I'm just greedy... Other than that he asked what I thought my biggest purchase was with the cards and I really couldn't think of anything. Afterwards I realised it was probably the amount I spend at garages keeping my old car on the road. By this time I was dreading the I&E section and foresaw us haggling over the food shopping allowance but I was staggered when he said I wouldn't have an IPA and didn't even bother going through my expenditure. I consider myself to be on a reasonable wage so I thought I would have at least a small amount to pay. And that was it! Very nice man. And even though I felt I didn't offer a very convincing account of how I'd managed to land myself in 30k of debt, he still implied the BR might be ended early. Got my wage slip today too and I intend to spend it wisely and open a savings account. Good luck to everyone else. x |

Paulsc, my DI according to the figures I submitted was £80 so based on that I suppose I wouldn't have got an IPA. However, my salary is going up by £20 a month, I thought my housekeeping claim of £380 for me and my 9 yr old might be considered too much and I also thought he might dismiss my claim of £25 for children's activities and £15 for birthdays/Xmas.
In fact, I got the impression he just based his decision on my salary (around £23000 pa) and didn't really analyse the breakdown I'd given him at all. Might be wrong though.
