Posted - 15 April 2009 : 21:01:11 Hi everyone. Had conversation with NR to check they received my keys as I had sent them in a jiffy bag. They said that I cannot voluntarily surrender the house without signing the form (the one we all talk about). He said that I can cross out the "liable" part but he also said that I cannot voluntarily surrender the house if I do not give a forwarding address?? I told him about the BR. Just worried that it is likely to go on for ever but really do not want to give my new rented house address as a previous post mentioned two guys turned up at the house??!! Any ideas?

Posted - 16 April 2009 : 20:30:26 Thanks Jane.l. Yep I reckon I will cancel the insurance anyway. I am definitely not giving NR a forwarding address, I remember your post!! I have got my OR telephone call the week after next so will talk to him about it. Council Tax have put a 6 month breather on my old house as it is empty. I put the "guessed" estimated shortfall on my SOA so all being well all will be sorted? Just wish I did not keep worrying about the old house as it is not letting me "move on" in my head. Love renting now, wish I had done it ages ago. Cheers.

Posted - 16 April 2009 : 14:33:44 Well, I did not bother with buildings ins, I could not afford it and as I was going bankrupt anyway, it did not matter to me if anything happened to the house, they could have billed me all they liked, but I could not pay anything! I left the house and it was 13 months before NR repossessed it. They said the same to me, that I could not give the house back without signing the form, I just told them straight, I am not signing it so hurry up and repossess the house |

Posted - 15 April 2009 : 22:09:04 thanks Dave. Yes Utilities know. My only problem is that I am still paying buildings insurance and want to make sure I not liable. Having said that my insurance company have sent me an updated contract as I have changed it from Buildings and Contents as house now empty. The underwriting company has changed some months ago and the contract from the new company stipulates that "You have never been bankrupt"??? Well I was last Tuesday so reckon I need to phone them anyway. Council Tax have put me on a 6 month "Reprieve" but I am going to send them my BR notification. Hopefully it will all sort out soon. |

Posted - 15 April 2009 : 22:03:54 not everyone gives a forwarding address, as long as the utilities are aware of when your liability ends i would just let NR have the keys. so long as they know where the keys belong to your dealings with them are complete, then after BR the secured debt becomes unsecured and NR don't like it, hence they want you to sign the form!!

Don't worry or know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.(Baz Lurman) Life's too short!!! |
