Posted - 20 April 2009 : 08:32:39 Hi there - i am currently bankrupt (since aug 08) and i do not work. I do not claim any benefits. my partner earns 32k and supports me and him and our 2 year old. i need to get a p/t job as we are still not earning enough to cover our outgoings.
i rang and asked the OR office what i need to do and they said i DON'T have to inform them - is this right? do you think it is worth writing to them anyway when i get a job??
the lady said inititally i had a BRO for 3 years , but then when she checked she said my case had been abandoned as the person dealing with it left the company, and therefore i do not have a bro. She said i should get automatically released after 12 months. is this right and do you think i will not get a bro?
i had previously avoided working as i thought they would take all the money... but now that i know that we are still struggling just on my partners wage i'm hoping we will get to keep any earnings (i am only able to do about 16 hours so it will probably be about £350 per month)

Posted - 20 April 2009 : 16:17:33 You can also look on the Insolvency Service website as there is a register of restriction orders. Were you offered a BRU? As far as I'm aware this would normally happen before the courts agreed a BRO.

Posted - 20 April 2009 : 09:40:09 You should have been informed about the length of the BRO after being made BR.
I would write to the OR office and get them to confirm in writing that you will not have a BRO and that you don't need to inform them if you get a p/t job.
