Sometimes having a decent credit score is necessary. While I don't want to have loans or credit cards again I do want to be able to change my mobile phone provider, one day I'll probably need a car loan, and I may need to go on the mortgage if circumstances changed.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Have you checked your credit files are up to date quite often the credit card co's and banks need a gentle reminder to show the debts as satisfied of partially satisfied but not still in default.

The only way that you will get your credit rating improved is to get into debt and make the payments on this debt.

Do you have a basic bank account? If so, speak to the bank and see if they would upgrade the account and give you a credit card with a small limit (£100). Use the card each month and make sure that you pay it off in full each month. The other option is to get a pre-paid credit card where you load the card with money and then spend it but these normally have charges associated with loading the card or getting the card in the first place.
