T O P I C    R E V I E W

Hi everyone,
I have got my OR call a week tomorrow. I will get an IPA as after calculating my I & E I will have sufficient DI to pay one. As I have gone from paying a hefty mortgage and now pay a much reduced amount in rent I will have quite a bit of Disposable left until they arrange the IPA. I have managed to keep my bank account into which my monthly salary gets paid and the OR, during a brief discussion just after court said he would have no interest in it due to it not having any debt associated to it.
When I get paid tomorrow I will have far more disposable than I have had for many years as my rent is so much cheaper and my new bills for utilities are mainly less than my old house. I am going to follow tips on this site as far as putting aside the monthly allowance for essentials such as food, pets, hair, etc. so I don't struggle at the times they are due. What about the rest of my DI whilst I am waiting for the IPA? Will money built up be taken off me or will they just take into account my monthly income?
I do intend to stock up my food cupboard/fridge/freezer as it has been like Old Mother Hubbard for a long time and I have been living on quite meagre rations whilst preparing for BR and due to the previous loans/cards etc. I was paying before BR. Would relatively large payments going out of my bank over the next few weeks be viewed negatively?

Thanks both of you. Ripski, I went BR 7th April, Birmingham and they phoned me the day after with my appointment of 28th so only 3 week wait. My I & E is going to be a lot different than Court date because I am now in rented and the papers I filed at court were done at my old mortgaged house and sent via internet as well as taken to court. I definitely think you should ring if you not heard anything. I rang my OR to ask a question and he said anything else you want to ask now? etc. so very helpful. They should not see you as pestering. I will let you know how it goes.
Yes John, I was thinking of enveloping the monies as per I & E sheet, for example hair by putting £10 a month but my long awaited appointment is May so I could put £30 aside then save the £10 thereonafter, same with cat injections (I know they may not allow me this anyway) but I put the annual cost but divided per month but obviously it has to be paid in one sum so that will come out of this pay too. No massive expenditure but obviously I had not accrued the amounts for my essential expenditure prior to being paid but obviously it will look like I am taking out larger amounts in one go. I am actually looking forward (if that is the right words) to getting the IPA as I will finally know then what is mine and what is not and can work with it.
Thanks both.

Hi Frosie

the disposable income you are accruing at present is yours. Any sum which you do pay towards an IPA will only be due once the IPA has begun as your IPA will run for 3 years irrespective of when it starts. However, as far as leaving capital in the account, it would largely depend on the kind of sum we are talking about. My thoughts are that any sum up to the amount you have claimed per month as essential expenditure is perfectly ok.

PS Frosie,How long have you waited for OR interview. I went BR 31 march and on initial call was told to expect call/ hear in about 2 weeks but it is now over 3 and nothing. This may because of Easter. I was given the name of case manager and phone number and told to phone if I was worried or anything urgent needed to deal with
I am so anxiuos, should I do this or will I antaganose them if I pester.

I am in the same position waiting for my OR interview. Have a coop account which they told me at initial call that they would not freeze and salary goes in.
I did not pay the mortgage this month (but this has also drastically reduced since doing my SoA )as my car died and I have had massive repairs to car to get to work. David Mond told me to be honest and OR would find this acceptable. However I also have spent too much the last two months, bailed my daughter out and 3 mths ago I went to milan on a 4 day break, which will show up on statements. One of the reasons I am bankrupt is overspending and not budgetting. I naiveley did not realise just how much control etc that the OR would have.
I am just hoping that the most that can happen is a dissaproving OR , telling off and prob because of changed I & E , a bigger disposable income and IPA
All the same I am so anxiuos now.
Good luck Frosie90 with yours and let me know how you go on
