Posted - 27 April 2009 : 11:09:00 Hi guys, Just want to check with those who have experienced the OR call. I sent off all my statements from the last 12 months so do not have them to refer to during the call. Do I just need to have the SOA in front of me? Booked the day off work today to prepare but not sure what i need to prepare? I know they will give me a new I & E to fill in as my circumstances, having moved into rented accommodation, have changed quite considerably. Starting to get nervous now.

Posted - 28 April 2009 : 11:37:33 Hi Frosie90,
Just to say that I put down £250 for food/housekeeping on my I&E and the OR okay'd it for me and I'm a single person, so I shouldn't imagine you'd have any problems with £200. Saying that though, other expenses like dental and birthday presents were not accepted, which kind of evens it out I suppose. I've ended up paying £260 per month IPA. I think the train of thought is if you don't ask you don't get.

Posted - 27 April 2009 : 12:59:37 I will thanks. I will have to pay an IPA anyway so reckon I will go in with the additional cos even with those I will be well over the threshold. My rent is so significantly less than my ex-mortgage so an IPA is a foregone conclusion. I have put additional on things like food. I put £200 which will be seen as too high for a single person but I have coeliac disease and whilst I can get bread and pasta on prescription, other freezer type foods etc are so much more expensive. I looked at Skippy's advice too and it has urged me to put "emergency" money on my list too which although I rent so no house costs but things like something packing up. Had to buy a lawnmower recently as my old one was broken and as a tenant am responsible for upkeep. Got it in sale, half price and with a free strimmer, but could only get it because i had rebate on water from my old house. Will keep you posted.

Posted - 27 April 2009 : 12:48:03 It's always worth asking for the more expensive bus pass as all the OR can say is 'No'. Mention that the limited buses mean that it takes longer to get to work and you have problems getting their on time. So long as you need to have the expensive bus pass the OR should be ok with it.
Some people have mentioned that ORs can be a bit restrictive if the additional cost would mean that you wouldn't pay an IPA i.e. allowing money for a holiday wouldn't only be ok if it meant that the disposable income would be too for an IPA. Have a look at Skippy's blog (http://skippy13.blogs.bankruptcyhelp.org.uk/) as she has posted her I&E and the amended I&E after discussion with the OR. |

Posted - 27 April 2009 : 12:25:09 Thanks G.o.o.d. I think I will prepare for the I & E today as there will be lots of changes. I want to change my bus pass from one that can only use limited buses for one that accesses the trains and private companies but costs double my current one but would be much easier travelling to and from where I now live. Not sure he will allow it but I can chat about it anyway. Thanks again, will report back.

Posted - 27 April 2009 : 11:45:26 Don't worry frosie you will be fine. I haven't had the call yet but from other posts the OR will want to clarify how you got into debt so will ask about the credit cards/loans that you had and then go through the I&E. He will be able to see the payments, amounts you spent on each CC from the statements you have provided.
Good luck and let us know how it went. |
