Hi all, I went bankrupt today, and just wanted to say that I was surprised at how smooth and easily it went!! I don't know if it's the same all over the country, but if my experience of Portsmouth Crown Court are anything to go by, then the initial court date is nothing to worry about!

I arrived at 10am, where there was only a ten minute wait from making my presence known to joining a clerk in a private room. She was very helpful and very friendly, and corrected a couple of minor things on my forms herself. She asked a few simple questions, mainly being sure that I had taken sufficient advice, and took my £510.00 fees. I then had to return at 2pm, where again, only ten minutes later I was called to the counter given my bankruptcy order... and that was it!! I now feel a million times better, and will now prepare for my OR interview with a clearer head than I had this morning!!

Just wanted to share this, and really hope that anyone else who has their court date coming up has the same simple, professional experience I had today.

I have posted elsewhere asking the question but reading your mail makes me think it really was quite painless :)

My petition was at Newcastle Crown Court, I had my forms checked at the desk, handed over my money and waited maybe 30 mins.

I was handed my forms, with no need to see a judge and walked out done and dusted.

I received a phone call from the OR a couple of days later, checking a couple of details and an information pack about a week after. I had to complete a form to allow the OR to discuss my tax and insurance affairs, and was told that the OR may or may not need to interview me at a later stage (im guessing they will though).

It seemed to go so smoothly, that I am still waiting for something to happen, but it would appear that thats that!!

Thats made me feel so much better, my court date is on the 19th may. By the sounds of it the waiting is the worst part lol!!

Really pleased for you! :D

Well done Elvis. The OR interview should be fine and you can start to get on with the rest of your life.
