Definate that they no longer advertise locally. I was told by court clerk that they thought this was changing in April. Too late for me as I went BR, 31st March but only had OR tel interview this week
OR said that they only advertise now in London Gazette. Discretion is still there to advertise but they would only do this in cases where there are local creditors and /local financial interest. Probably mean businesses

It was the 'name and shame ' bit that bothered me. In the end I was so desperate that I had to bite the bullet and take it. Has not been as bad I thought and prob only a 7 day wonder re gossip

Hi

that's correct beau, if the OR's office retains a policy of local advertisement you can only stop it via a Stay of Advertisement granted by the court.
This will only be granted in extreme circumstances of which a threat from a creditors is not one.

If you don't have a Stay the OR is duty bound to follow his office policy. So a bit of a lottery.

I don't think mine was advertised locally but it will be in the Gazette for 1000 years.

This is at the total discretion of the individual OR offices. Some are still advertising local and gazette in all cases, so if you want to know for your own case, the best person to ask would be whoever you speak to initially at the OR office.

Thanks, I'm going BR next Monday so I will let you know if I am in the paper. If I remember I'll also ask the clerk. It would make sense for businesses and also that the archaic process of 'naming and shaming' people who have no option but to declare BR.
