Can anyone tell me if there is a time limit in which the OR has to give you a BRU or does it need to be given before the automatic discharge of BK (within 1 year)?
If you are given a BRU of say 5 years, and you are 6 months into your bankruptcy, does this mean your bankruptcy period is 6 years plus 5 years BRU (total of 11 years) or is the BRU active within the 6 years of the bankruptcy period?

The OR has to file their report to London by the 9th month following the date of bankruptcy. So if it hasn't happened by then they have to apply for an extention - which very rarely happens except in exceptional circumstances.
The length of the BRU/BRO is from the date it is accepted/ordered. So they sign to accept a 3 year BRU on the 1 May 2009 it would last until the 1 May 2012.

I believe that if you are given a BRU then it adds to your BR of 12 months so if you have a 2 yr BRU then it will be 3 yrs until you are discharged. Once you are discharged it will then be a further 6 yrs before your credit file looks anywhere near normal.
