Hi and thanks, what happens if that partnership opens a bank account but only as the un bankrupt partner named on it?

The reason for the rule is to ensure that creditors are aware of the name under which you were bankrupt and so giving them warning, if you like, of who they are dealing with.

You would be able to trade as 'your name, trading as' as this would mean any creditors would have that warning as your purchase order, cheque book and bank account, and invoices would have your name on them.

You do have to stick to the same name, but not sure if you could do what you are proposing.

Hopefully one of the experts will be along to advise.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time
