Posted - 11 May 2009 : 20:08:25 Hi,
I have jsut been putting in black & white all my husbands debts. He has run up some balances on my credit cards, but still has available credit on his, I want to transfer his debts onto his cards before he goes BR so I'm not lumbered with them.
We can do this as he has the credit available and not missed a payment yet (that will come soon!) - is this OK to do??
Thanks

you really need to get specific advice about this.
If your hubby were to transfer debts in your name ( yours by virtue of the fact it is on your card even though he has spent it) , the official receiver would see a very clear paper trail showing that he has transfered money to you ( your cards) .
On investigating this the OR would conclude that your husband has treated one creditor differently ( i.e.you ) to other creditors creating a preferential position.
