Posted - 13 May 2009 : 20:59:26 I am going BR on the 23rd of June, i had agreed to pay Northern Rock £1 a month until the end of the year, with the 1st payment due now.
My wife (who i have seperated from) is going BR but not for at least 3 months (she is jointly named on the Northern Rock debt).
Do i pay the £1 this month and next even though i am going BR, or will that be seen as favouring them?
I am trying to get my wife as much time as possible before they try and find her and chase her for the debt.

Posted - 14 May 2009 : 06:45:34 If you have agreed to pay Northern Rock £1 and you are not going BR for another month then it won't do any harm to pay them the May and June payment and will keep any pressure off your ex-wife. Once you are declared BR then you won't be able to pay them. Have you agreed any token payments with other creditors? It may strictly be favouritism if you are not paying other creditors but you can explain to the OR the reasons for paying them and the OR should be ok with it.
