Posted - 17 May 2009 : 20:24:31 I have received a letter from RTLU to buy the BI in my house for £1. They state that it must complete in 3 months...how long would that safetly give me to find the solicitors fees of £473. I don't want to risk it too long before I send the money but will need time to sort out the fees. Also will the RTLU solicitor deal with everything as a friend is purchasing the BI due to the fact my family do not know I went BR (I would be greatly frowned upon!)Would my friend have to appoint a solicitor aswell? Thanks for advice. Christine.

It will be hard to find but I am not moaning as I am lucky to have the option of buying my BI for £1. A lot of people on the forum are still waiting to here if they will be able to stay in their homes. I have had that worry for eight months and I am so relieved now....will be able to sleep again! Everyone on the forum has been so helpful it has made my BR a lot less worrying. Thanks. Christine

Posted - 19 May 2009 : 12:34:43 Usually takes a couple of weeks to get sorted so you should be fine.
You don't need to appoint a soliciter as the RTLU soliciter will deal with everything.
The only thing I would say is that it might be worth getting something written up and signed in front of a soliciter to say you will be buying it back again after bankruptcy, because as it stands your friend will have legally gained any equity from your house should ou sell it at a later date.

I would say the sooner the better but don't know how long the process takes to complete.
