Posted - 22 May 2009 : 18:05:30 You can only put the previous years council tax debt into the bankruptcy ie year end March 2009. Not the current year.ie this years council tax you technically have until March 2010 to pay, though if you get into arrears you will face recovery action.
If you are a couple and only one goes bankrupt the other party will be solely liable for the council tax debt

Posted - 22 May 2009 : 17:55:41 I know that when we were made bankrupt the OR advised us that only our previous years council tax was allowed to be included and not the current years - we still had to pay that.

If it is a joint debt, then on your bankrutpcy the debt would pass to your partner.
