I went BR in Nov 08, i had a car dealership selling used cars the business was only 4 years old & used bank funding for set up & continuous growth for 3 years. I employed 5 staff & due to the downturn last year i lost too much money to try to keep it going. I have been applying for jobs as a salesman/sales manager, with out much luck, however went for an interview on tuesday which went well i was with the MD for over an hour & a half. However have now been told due to my BR they feel they cannot employ me.
I feel this is very unfair, due to the fact of being self employed this goverment of ours says i am not entitled to any help from them albiet they would pay my N/I. How i now wish i had become a banker as i could of asked the goverment for a nice little bail out package, i would not have been greedy just £100,000 would of done, i would not have asked for a big fat pension for all my hard efforts i had put in & as for expenses i would have paid my own way. Can someone make sense of this country for i am a little confused as to what Great Britain stands for anymore........ I may write this letter to :-

Dear Mr. Darling,

Please find below my suggestion for fixing Britain's economy. Instead of giving billions of pounds to banks that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan. You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 20 million people over 50 in the work force. - Pay them £1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Twenty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new British CAR. Twenty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.

4) They must send there kids to school / college /university - Crime rate fixed

5) Buy £50 of alcohol / tobacco a week there's your money back in duty / tax etc

It can't get any easier than that!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members of parliament pay back there falsely claimed expenses and second home allowances

If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know. If not, please disregard

Wonder what the reply would be.......

So sorry to read your post, not having a good time of it are you. If I was you I would speak to the person with whom you had the interview and fully explain your situation in that your bankruptcy was a result of a failed business venture not any wrong doing, and ask to be given a trial say 3 months to proove how good you are, and if they are not then h appy you will gladly shake their hand and thank them for the opportunity and walk away - after all you have nothing to lose?

I only ask you to do this as i have sadly com across people who think if someone has gone bankrupt they are obviously of crook'ed character - this guy may be one of them.....proove him wrong - stanger things have happenend
