Posted - 25 May 2009 : 23:21:47 My landlord (who happens to be my old man, its all official, proper and legal tenant, paying market rent, proof of rent payments, bills in my name, no beneficial interest bla bla) showed me the letter the OR sent him today and his response. Landlord received the letter 4-day after I went BR, so the OR is working quite fast.
I was a little suprised. The OR stated in the letter that if I (the BR) had an AST (Assured shorthold tenancy) which i have, then they need no information other than to confirm that I (the BR) have an AST and am in fact the tenant I claim to be.
So, OR stated they don't need a copy of tenancy and don't need details of rent. My landlord wrote back confirming I am the tenant and i have an AST and it seems thats it.
So far, so smooth (touch wood).
There is a AST agreement for the rent i am paying £650 per month, but landlord did not send it, as OR did not ask for it.
Will let you know how things progress with this issue and IPA (if there is one).
Respect for the OR in keeping things nice and simple though (famous last words maybe)
EDIT: OR's letter stated if I did NOT have AST that landlord needed to send tenancy agreement, rent level and details of any rent arrears. Looks like the forumula is AST = just confirm this BR dude is in fact your tenant!
