Posted - 08 June 2009 : 15:14:53 I know how you felt gettingoutofdebt I feel sick at the thought of the phonecall tommorow, good job I'm working tonight as I'm sure I wouldn't sleep a wink.I keep thinking of new things to worry about,if they take my child benefit into account I'l prob get ipa if they don't I prob won't,I don't think I'v claimed too much for anything, surely they must take into account the difference between 2 children and 2 teenage lads who eat for britain and wear mens clothes when making allowances for i/e,also worried that as for this month only I got extra £300 tax credits they might want to take that, wish it was this time tommorrow be nearly over then. |

Posted - 08 June 2009 : 14:15:16 The I&E you have on the SOA can be amended when you have the OR's interview so it isn't set in stone at the moment.
The Internet is allowed for your college work as well as the kids school work so mention it during the interview.
The creams you buy may or may not be allowed. The OR may ask if they can be prescribed by a doctor and, if so, would it then be cheaper with a repeat prescription. I know what it is like to try to get something from a doctor and they refuse and give you something else that doesn't work so I know how frustrating this can be.
For me, the OR's interview was more nerve wrecking that going to court but it was fine so try not to worry too much. |

Posted - 07 June 2009 : 19:18:22 If your wage is changing to the lower amount from the beginning of July then mention this to the OR. The IPA can take several months to setup after the OR's interview so it isn't something that is immediate.
Child benefit is normally accepted as going to pay for children's clothes, food, etc. so shouldn't be counted as DI for an IPA.
Jane - You look to have been hard done to by the OR. As a single adult I was allowed £50 clothing so how you are expected to clothe 5 people on £80 is ridiculous. The guidelines for 2 adults and 2 children are £155.
You can see some of the guidelines at www.insolvency.gov.uk/DocumentLibrary/Policy/Excel/Household%20Expenditur.xls
Don't forget that this is an Income Payment AGREEMENT so you can challenge the OR's figures and both you and the OR should agree on the figures.
Explain the circumstances regarding the work/college meals to the OR and see what they say.
Do your children need to use the Internet for their school work? If so then this can be added as the Internet for education purposes is allowed. |

Posted - 07 June 2009 : 18:46:43 Sorry another question will they count my child benefit when working ipa out. |

Posted - 07 June 2009 : 18:45:19 It's just me who's bankrupt, husbands on jsa and he gives me half(has his own bills to pay) I have included this in income. The rent is what I actually pay and the kids are more adults than kids both 6feet tall and eat more than me and my husband together, thats why foods higher,I do take sandwiches to work for 1 meal, but as I'm out of the house for 14 hours a day, I need to buy a hot meal too.£520 housekeeping is only £130 a week, I'd really struggle to fund school and college meals out of this. It's the ipa I'm must worried about getting,if it's done on the higher income by end july won't be able to afford it. |

Posted - 07 June 2009 : 18:22:15 depends on your OR but be prepared that they may cut:
your housekeeping- is a bit high so you probably be disallowed meals at work, you are supposed to use the housekeeping budget, ie. take sandwiches
UK break -not all OR's allow this
clothing- is high, we put £100 for 2 adults and 3 teenagers and the OR cut this to £80
personal care- this should be covered from your housekeeping
pet food- £21 maximum, for food and insurance
appliance ins- not sure if this would be allowed, would have to come out of any surplus

Posted - 07 June 2009 : 18:20:06 Hi Rent looks a little low as does food for work however I dont think housekeep that high would be accepted if you have the other items such as clothing etc An expert would probably give a different view point on this, however each OR officeseem to have differnt ideas regarding income and exp,
Best of luck

Posted - 07 June 2009 : 18:18:35 Hi,
Housekeeping £520 - This normally £500 for a family of 4 so may be reduced but leave it as it is.
Hair cuts £25 - You should put £30 for this. The accepted amount is £10 per adult and £5 per child.
Personal care £15 - What is this for?
Clothing £150 - This is fine as the guidelines are £155 for 2 adults and 2 kids.
Uk break £50 - £80 is the guideline for a family of 4 but a holiday isn't always accepted by the OR especially if it makes the difference between paying an IPA and not paying one.
There is an allowance for the following but I am not too sure of the guideline amount:
Meals in work £50 School and college meals £50
Is you partner declaring BR as well? If the amount is for 2 adults then you normally have to specify how much the other adult contributes to the outgoings. The OR can't force the other adult to contribute but will question it if their contribution isn't listed.

Posted - 07 June 2009 : 17:14:30 Also my income has completly changed since going BR it's gone from£1,748(including child benefit) to £1,636 (including child benefit of £143) The full effects of this won't show on wage slips till end of July, just hope OR doesn't give me an ipa on income already submitted as outgoings come to £1,645 I'm hoping even if they cut some of my allowances I won't get ipa. |
