I have a court date of the 31st July to go BR. As advised by the CAB, I have ceased payments to all of my creditors and mortgage company in order to secure a rented proerty and also the money for the BR. I am getting letters on a daily basis. Do I write to my creditors advising them of my situation? Or do I ignore them?

Any help would be appreciated.

It is not necessary to tell your creditors that you are declaring BR but it is always recommended to keep your creditors advised of your situation.

When I had decided to declare BR I spoke to all of my creditors when they called chasing payments and gave them the hearing date. After this I ignored their calls until I was BR and then provided them the BR details they need i.e. case number, OR details, etc.

If you do advise them that you are declaring BR they may put pressure on you as they will realise that they are not going to get the money that you owe them.

My advice would be to call each creditor and advise them of your BR date and then ignore them. Don't bother writing to them as this will get lost in the system. Once you have been declared BR call each creditor again and provide them your BR details. You will still get letters after advising them that you are BR as it seems to take about 10 days for these to stop.
